INSURANCE

Psychological services are not covered by Manitoba Health or by Social Assistance Programs.

If you have dental coverage from your work, chances are good that psychotherapy provided by a Clinical Psychologist, or associate is also covered by your insurance company, up to a certain limit.

Costs can be further defrayed by insurance, if your plan offers a Health Spending Account.

Psychotherapy provided by a Clinical Psychologist, or Clinical Associate (supervised by a Clinical Psychologist) are considered medical expenses, and as such, psychotherapy fees not reimbursed by insurance can be claimed on your taxes. This can help off-set the cost of service.  A prescription for psychotherapy may be required by your medical doctor to qualify. Ask your accountant for details. Additional information can also be found on the CRA website.

I do not direct bill insurance companies, excluding members of the RCMP and VAC.  You will be required to pay for your session and submit receipts to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

To avoid any delays with reimbursement, contact your provider in advance of booking a session.

If your provider denies reimbursement, you will be personally responsible for the fee.
